General rule

All serious rebounder trainers, doctors and physiotherapists agree to the fact that you should keep away from cheap rebounder models. Cheap rebounders damage you more than do you well and if you don't want to spend the money for buying a quality rebounder, then better don't rebound at all and go swimming or choose another healthy sport. Rebounder Quiz

There are four sections I, II, III, IV.
Each section consists of a serious of questions and each question has several possible answers of which you have to choose one. At the end of each answer you find letters. Note on a piece of paper the letters of the answer you choose for the question.

Example: If in Section I, question 1 you are asked how old you are,  and let's say, you are 41 years old, then you have to note two Bs:  "BB".

At the end of each section you count your letters and the letter which has the highest score is the result for the section.

According to your result you will be guided to go to the next relevant section. At the end of the last section, you will get the name of the rebounder or the company of the rebounder that might fit you best.

 Section I:
What suits you better: Spring or Bungee band rebounder?

  1. Your age
    1. I am over 60 years old. Note: BBBB
    2. I am 50 to  59 years old. Note: BBB
    3. I am 40 to  49 years old. Note: B
    4. I am 30 to  39 years old. Note: S
    5. I am under 30 years old. Note: SS
  2. What you like to experience
    1. I want to experience a soft bounce, a plush feeling, like flying. It is also important for me to experience a workout that strengthens me and is fun at the same time. Note: BBBB
    2. For my physical conditions (back, knee, joints) I need the softest possible rebounder. Note: BBBB
    3. As I have never rebounded, I don't know what I want to experience. Do not note anything for this category
    4. I want to experience a strong bounce that allows me a quick frequency and I am not concerned that this means a harder bounce. Note: SSSS
    5. I want to bounce very strongly at least an hour per day and I prefer a harder and quicker bounce return.             Note SSSSS and go directly to section IV
  3. Your budget
    1. I want the best of the best. I love beauty and I believe in quality.       Note: BBBB
    2. My health is worth getting the rebounder that suits me best, even if the model is expensive. I know that doctor visits are very expensive, too, and that a high quality rebounder would pay out at the end. Note: BBB
    3. Money matters. However, I am willing to pay for a rebounder that provides me the fun experience that I need to keep me motivated.
      Note: B
    4. Although I love high quality, my budget is limited. I could not spend more then $500 for a rebounder.
Note: SSSSSS and go directly  to section IV as Bungee band rebounders are all over $600.

  4. Allways outside?
    1. I want my rebounder to be outside all the time also during rain and over night. Note: SSSS

    2. Sometimes I have back pain or knee problems. Note: BBB
    3. I have no problems neither with my knees nor with my back. Note: S
  6. Balance
    1. I have severe problems with my balance and I would prefer a stiffer rebounder mat. Note: SSS
    2. I have severe problems with balance but I still would like to have a soft bouncing mat. Note: BBB .You would need to order a holding bar for your rebounder.
    3. I have no problems with balance.    Don't note anything for this category.
  7. Your feet   Are you pronating? To see the video clip with which you can find out if you are pronating, please click here.
    1. Yes, I am heavily pronating and I don't think I can stop myself from doing so even after having seen the video.   Note: SSSS. Our recommendation: You can either wear Anti Pronating shoes and still use a soft bouncing rebounder or you can get a spring based rebounder. In the case you prefer a stiffer spring based rebounder,   go directly to Section IV.
    2. Yes I am pronating but I am sure, I can learn to control my feet position with some training. Note: S
    3. Yes I am pronating but I have anti-pronating shoes that help me correcting this. Note: S
    4. I am not pronating, yahoo! Note: B
    5. I am supinating.Note: B

End of Section I
You have reached the end of Section I.
Now please count your B's and S's.

If you have more B's it means that you might do best with a bungee band rebounder.
Go to Section II.

If on the contrary you have more S's, then you might be better off with a spring based rebounder. Go on the right side and continue directly with Section IV.

Section II:
39" or 44" Bungee band rebounder?

In this section we will inquire if a small rebounder of 39 inches diameter is better for you or if the 44 inch rebounder would suit you most.

Note the U's and M's that you find in each category and count them at the end of this section. Remember to choose only one answer per category.

  1. Size of your room  and portability
    1. I have enough space to place a rebounder with a diameter of 44 inches. Note U
    2. I have very limited space and if possible I would even store the rebounder away when I don't use it. Note: M M M
    3. I want to travel with the rebounder either using a car or in an airplane. Note M M M
  2. Age and size of persons going to use the rebounder
    1. The oldest person is over 65 years old. Note: UUU
    2. My children who are between 8 and 15 years old want to use the rebounder, too. Note: UU
    3. My children are under 8 years and I want them to use the rebounder, too. Note: U
  3. The size of the tallest person using the rebounder
    1. is between 5"8' and 6"1' Note: UU

  End of Section II

If you have more U's then you might prefer the Bellicon 44 with a diameter of 44 inches.
If on the contrary, you have more M's then you might be happier with the Bellicon 39 which has a diameter of 39 inches.

Make a note of this result and then go to Section III to find out, if your rebounder should have folding or screwing legs.

Section III

Folding or Screwing legs?

In the following section you can find out if a folding leg model would work best for you or if screwing legs are more advised. Please count the "F's" and the "S's" and remember only to choose one answer per category.

  1. You space
    1. After my workout, I need to store away my rebounder. I have not enough space to just lean it upside against a wall. Note: FFFF
    2. I have enough space to leave the rebounder in the room or I can lean it against the wall.  Note: SSSS
  2. Traveling
    1. I travel a lot by car and it would be great if I could  quickly mount and demount my rebounder at a rest stop so that I can bounce and refresh myself within minutes. Note: FFF
    2. I travel a lot by airplane and I would love to take my rebounder with me.
Most airlines allow you to take a 39" rebounder with you as check in luggage . It just needs to be kept in a round carrying case, not in its box as the box would be too big.  Note: SSS
    3. I won't likely travel  a lot with my rebounder.
Don't note anything in this category.

  3. Stability
    1. My rebounder should be as stable as if the frame and the legs were glued together. Note: SSSS
    2. I don't mind if there is a tiny bit of play between the rebounder and the legs as long as this does not influence the quality of my bounce. Note FF

Section IV:

Which Spring based rebounder?

If you come to this section, this means that in Section I you found out that a spring based rebounder would work best for you.

From the hundreds of different spring rebounders which you find on the North American market, we chose five companies which produce rebounders that we can rate from good to excellent. We based our choice on tests that we performed ourselves and on testimonials from our clients.

We invite you now to find out which spring based rebounder could be the one you would feel most comfortable with:

  1. Budget
    1. My budget is unlimited.                     Note: BBB (lucky you!)
    2. I can spend maximum $150. Note: OO
    3. I want to spend between $150 and $250. Note: NN
    4. I want to spend  between $200 and $400. Note: CC
    5. If the quality would be substancially better, I can pay more than $400.     Note: BB
  2. Quality of Bounce
    1. I don't mind a hard bounce. Note: O
    2. My rebounder does not need to be the top of the line but I want to make sure that at least I don't inure myself when rebounding. Note: N C
    3. I am concerned about the jarring effect at the bottom of each bounce. I require highest quality. Note: B
  3. Quality of the springs
    1. I  want springs that last about a lifetime. Note: B
    2. I dont' mind exchanging springs from time to time. Note: O N C
  4. Can you live with noise?
    1. I want my rebounder to be completly silent and that stays silent. Note: BB
    2. I don't mind if my rebounder starts squieking after a while as I bounce with headphones.                                         Do not note anything in this category.
  5. Chemical tolerance
    1. I am sensitive to chemicals and I could not tolerate a rebounder that leaches plastic. Note: BCN
    2. Even a strong smell of plastic does not disturb me. Note: O

End of Section IV

Congratulation. You have reached the the end of the Rebounder Quiz. Now please count your letters and find out which letter has the highest score.

  1. If the result is "N" then you might look into buying a Needak rebounder. It's springs are squeaky but for its price, it's a good rebounder. It has a high quality Permatron mat. We don't sell Needak rebounders as we are too picky on quality, but you can find them on  www.amazon.com.
  2. If your result is "O" you might be interested in buying an Intone Oval Jogger. Note however that the bounce is extremely hard and that the plastic cover is very smelly. I have bought one myself and after two weeks of having it on the patio, I can still smell it from 10 feet away. What is very nice with the Oval Jogger is that the surface of the mat is very large which allows a great variety of  bounces. We don't sell the Intone Oval Jogger  as we are too picky on quality, but you can find them www.amazon.com.
  3. If your result is "C" you might be interested in buying a "Cellerciser". This is already a more expensive rebounder which costs around $360. The overall quality of it is good. The mat is made out of Permatron, the springs are high quality springs - not as good as the Bellicon springs but good enough. The bounce is nice. Downsides when bouncing on the Cellerciser is a horizontal ripple caused by  its slightly wobbely folding legs. You also need to know that the springs are heavily  squieking from about the second or third week on. Customers of us who had a Cellerciser,  told us that they experienced that a spring broke. However, this is anecdotal and probalbly very rare. We don't sell the Cellerciser as we are too picky on quality, but we can connect you with a reseller if you drop us an email or call us.
  4. If your result is "B" then you might be most happy with a Bellicon spring based rebounder.
They are actually the best spring based rebounders which we have encountered. German engineering really shows in these rebounders as  Bellicon not only uses the best springs available worldwide - which they import from New Zealand - they also figured out that if they alternate left- and right turning springs, they can produce a better bounce then if all springs turn in the same direction.
Bellicon produces two different spring based rebounders, the "Dynamic" for a weight of up to 200 pounds and the "Athletic" for a weight of up to 350 pounds. True, they are among the most expensive spring based rebounders. However, they also deliver highest quality for many years: You will never need to exchange the springs (with proper use, they will never break) and - a relief for the nervous system: They are completely silent. Also after months of usage.
